Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In 2009 during my first trip to Memphis, I visited the Lorraine Hotel where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot in 1964. That was a profound and sobering experience, particularly since my girlfriend at the time was African American. That fact that she and I could have a relationship at all and go wherever we wished, without fear for our lives, really brought home the magnitude of Dr. King's work and legacy. In short, he has my thanks, my gratitude, and my deepest respect.
